Sukoon Houseboat

Set among floating gardens of flowering lotus in a secluded corner of Dal lake, with views of the misty Pir Panjal mountains, fairytale hilltop forts and temples, Sukoon has been sensitively restored to seamlessly blend the old-world charm of a traditional houseboat with modern comforts. There are ample spaces to relax; curl up with a good book in the calm of the opulent living room, or take Kashmiri tea laced with saffron and cardamon on the verandah, but it is Sukoon’s stunning sun terrace that sets it apart from the crowd, a private space to gaze at the view and soak up the sights and sounds of life on the lake. From sunrise to sunset gaily painted shikaras and floating flower sellers laden with roses and delphiniums drift by, parents paddle children to and from school and fishermen cast their nets.
